"The perfect night cap. (& yes the soda siphon really does make the drink)"
"Obscure but thoroughly enjoyable. "

"Canadian Club and seltzer--a relaxing evening. "
"B's drink tonight. "
If memory serves, it was Canadian Club. Kind of my go to every day whiskey. A soda siphon is that squirt bottle contraption with a trigger and a spout that you see in old Marx brothers comedy scenes. You basically put water in it and then charge the bottle with s carbon dioxide cartridge and get carbonated seltzer water out. I kind of have an evening ritual of a big ice cube, a healthy pour of whiskey and a splash of soda from the siphon all in my favorite rocks glass.
Probably the greatest drink of all time, but I have to admit that I much prefer it with rye rather than bourbon.
I was thinking taking your advice of making it my Olympic drink as well.
Agreed. Several drinks that I make (including The Last Word) use it.
Best liquid medicine I've heard of.
Absolutely. It's definitely a great summer drink (especially when one starts with mint rather than a mixer bottle with a dubious green color).
Thanks. I should probably give credit that I got the recipe from Imbibe magazine and they got it from Ted Kilgore of Taste Bar by Niche in St. Louis. I like Fernet Branca, but it's menthol and eucalyptus flavors don't always play well with others. There's a hilarious Bill Cosby bit about it: http://youtu.be/_0QTD3uZoTI
Oops iPhone spellcheck. It's a mojito. How the f isn't that in the dictionary?
Thanks. We tried it again last night with the light rum (that's what's in the picture) and thought it was a little better with an aged rum, though both are good.
