The Rob Roy

Ingredients needed to make a The Rob Roy

2 1/2 oz Blended Scotch Whisky (John Barr Black in mine)
1 oz Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz Maraschino Cherry Juice
Maraschino Cherries

The Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe Directions

In a cocktail shaker add all liquid ingredients and a small amount of ice. Shake gently. Strain into a martini type glass and garnish with a couple of maraschino cherries on a toothpick.

Bartender's Notes

I wait all year for this season to start making Rob Roy's. Somehow they aren't the same in warmer weather.

The Rob Roy is one of my ALL-TIME favs. Your recipe is how I order mine when I'm out.

I'm a fan of the Rob Roy -- I was just thinking about this drink the other day while making a Rusty Nail for someone (that I neglected to photograph so that I could chronicle it here). My recipe is a bit different than yours so it will be a nice comparison when I get it posted. I agree about the blended Scotch though.

I love making these. The Rob Roy is very popular with the middle-aged set. I agree with using the blended scotches, as the single malts tend to have unique flavors that would ruin the continuity of this classic upper crust concoction.
