The Monday Night Martini

Ingredients needed to make a The Monday Night Martini

2 1/2 oz vodka
a drop and a bit of vermouth
pickled garnish

The Monday Night Martini Cocktail Recipe Directions

Let vodka and vermouth sit in a cocktail shaker filled with ice while you make a grilled cheese sandwich. Then shake and pour mixture into a martini glass, over a pickled garnish.

thefreeartist's Notes

My wife and I like a martini on Monday night, because Mondays are hard days. I prefer mine with vodka and cocktail onions, which means, I think, that I like vodka gibsons. Either way, because it's Monday and supplies are low, I usually make mine with whatever pickled vegis are on hand -- tonight's was a spicey gherkin. I drank this with a grilled cheese sandwich.

That would be a Dirty Gibson. I submitted a gin version of a Dirty Gibson earlier in the year. Feel free to use the Drink search above to check it out, or find it through my profle. -JJ

The last martini I made I used the cocktail onion brine instead of vermouth and that ended up way tasty. And as clear as can be. Would that be a "dirty onion"?

I like Martini Mondays, although I like mine with a lemon twist. I don’t like pickles but think I’d like to try a “Dirty Pickle” mostly for the name!

I remember those olives, often and fondly.

Yes, Gibsons (though I've never had one, i never, sadly have cocktail onions around)! I'm a gin man, myself but am a fan of the less traditional garnishes. Once had these green olives with hot red peppers that came out of them... one of my fave garnishes. Nice addition.

If you prefer onions in your "martini", then you are drinking a "Gibson". A gimlet is vodka ice and lime juice, or gin and the same. It's a "Pickle Martini" if it has a gherkin garnish, and a "Dirty Pickle" if you use pickle juice with your gin/vodka, and vermouth. Either way, Mondays are tough, and a Martini in any variety will cure what ails you! Nice upload. -Bartender
