Ingredients needed to make a Sidecar Especial
1 part solera gran reserva brandy de Jerez
1 part Patron Citronge
1 part fresh lemon juice
Sidecar Especial Cocktail Recipe Directions
Shake all ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker. Strain into a glass over more ice to make it extra cold. Garnish with lemon peel.
The Spanish brandy is aged at length in sherry casks, which gives this version of a classic drink a nice nutty quality to contrast with the sweetness of the orange liqueur and the tartness of the lemon juice.

This is definitely one of those drinks that is low in complexity, but high on taste and satisfaction. A new classic for sure. @Bartender
Both Gonzalez Byass' Lepanto and Cardinal Mendoza are top shelf. I used the Lepanto.
I thought the Patron was a citrus flavored tequila too. Thanks for clearing that up! I am drinking a modified Side Car right now called the Boston Side Car. I'll be loading it shortly! I have to try that Solera Gran Reserva. Sweet submission. I love the new twists on the old school cocktails.
Thanks, MixMaster. The Patron Citronge is actually neutral spirits-based, not tequila-based; I asked about this when I bought it because mixing tequila with brandy probably would not put me in my happy place. : )
Sidecars are a fantastic year-round drink. I use E&J VSOP Brandy, Triple Sec, and Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed when I can) and it always comes out just right. Winocat's however, brings a top-shelf approach to a Prohibition Era cocktail by using the Cognac-like Brandy, and the citrus tequila. I will now have to bring my A game! Nice upload.
I love a sidecar - will try with the the Spanish brandy.
