Ingredients needed to make a Sazerac
2 ozs rye (we used redemption its good)
Sazerac Cocktail Recipe Directions
Chill your glass chill your rye coat chilled glass with absinthe and then discard. Leave a small puddle at bottom of glass. Add a teaspoon or so of sime syrup, or to taste, then a few shakes of peychaud bitters. Shake the chilling rye in the shaker then pour into prepped glass.
A new orleans classic. Using absinthe adds body and a sense if danger to this. Absinte and peychaud bitters give a very anise-like body to this one. This was the beverage on New Years Eve. Moving ahead. Looking back. Happy new years to all.

@bartender old tyme for sure. I felt that i should have be wearing sleeve gaiters and have a handlebar mustache as i mixed this. @forrestfrazier do you add rocks to the glass or serve it up? I can see how the lemon would punch this up
Great olde tyme cocktail. Happy New Year to you too Ted.
I always add a nice healthy lemon twist to this and serve in a rocks glass. That allows for a more complex aroma.
Its a good drink for sure. Its more mild than one would expect and the proportions at just a couple ounces of rye are very friendly.
Love the sazerac. Once you get it perfect it becomes a favorite.
