Mint Julep

Ingredients needed to make a Mint Julep

10 mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
1 1/2 teaspoons superfine sugar
Seltzer water
Crushed ice
2 1/2 ounces Kentucky bourbon I prefer Makers Mark

Mint Julep Cocktail Recipe Directions

Place the mint leaves in the bottom of a glass and top with the sugar. Add a few teaspoons of water and Muddle until the leaves start to break down. Fill the glass 3/4 full with crushed ice, and add the bourbon. Top with another splash of seltzer, stir, and garnish with a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.

ForrestFrazier's Notes

Don't over muddle the mint or it will be a mess to drink and you'll end up with green bits on your teeth.

It might be. Either way this is a classic summer cocktail that I always bust out on Derby Day.
