Applejack old fashioned

Ingredients needed to make a Applejack old fashioned

2.5 oz applejack
2 dashes fee brothers whiskey barrel aged bitters
1 tsp maple syrup

Applejack old fashioned Cocktail Recipe Directions

Add all ingredients in rocks glass with ice. Stir and enjoy.

ForrestFrazier's Notes

This is an exceptional drink. Historically Applejack is the first spirit distilled in America, a favorite during the Revolutionary War. This bitters shows through with its cinnamon flavors and the maple is subtle in the background just offering a hint of sweetness to cut the sharp of the applejack.

I had no less than three of these at a family function this past weekend. I was really impressed at how the bitters and maple syrup tamed the edge that Applejack is notorious for. It was a very "November" cocktail. A must try.

The thing I found interesting about this drink but I guess you could say applejack in general is that it is not overtly applely. It really allows other flavors to shine.

interesting. I'm getting ready to dust off my Laird's apple Jack (I make a mean pumpkin pie and it's in the recipe) and was honestly considering if there was a cocktail I could make with it while prepping my pie filling -- some variation on this would be pretty solid -- was also wondering about the possibility of this in some sort of Manhattan like drink, maybe a var of the perfect Manhattan where this stands in for dry vermouth... could also do an old school, unsweet appletini (oxymoron!) I'd guess but I don't do appletinis, old school or otherwise. I did a drink last year with rum and cider, maybe there's some sort of rum/applejack combo (very colonial!).

I think this is the debut of Applejack here on SeeMyDrink. Seasonal spin on a cornerstone cocktail.
